Dorinda Medley shared a video of daughter Hannah Lynch on Wednesday that has sparked concern about the 26-year-old.
In the video, which was also posted on Lynch’s Instagram account, the young woman says she is going to show her followers how she disguises her panty line when wearing revealing tights.
“Cutting your clothes to streamline your body,” she captioned the over-4-minute tutorial.
However, as the video goes on, Lynch begins to make comments about her slim figure.
“I’m also quite hippy, so I really don’t want to accentuate this area too much,” she said. “I don’t really like to do that, but something I love about myself is that I’ve got an amazing thigh gap.”
The New Yorker, who has appeared with her mother on “The Real Housewives of New York City” several times, later adds, “I’ve created this sort of layering, which covers up my bum, and it also really accentuates this, like, gorgeous thigh gap that I have.”
Lynch’s followers pointed out how some of her comments can be triggering for those struggling with an eating disorder.
“The weird focus on the thigh gap is weird to me,” one person commented. “I thought that was only desired in ED culture.”
Another person wrote, “Really accentuating your thigh gap? that’s not something to brag about. you should love your body no matter what size your thighs are. NOT having a thigh gap is beautiful. very scary to be encouraging girls to have unrealistic expectations.”
When one person directly called out Lynch’s remark about her hips, Medley’s daughter responded, “I am skinny for sure but that’s not to say that my body is perfectly proportioned. I’m like my mom we naturally carry out weight in our bottoms – trick is to make sure your clothes address your proportions effectively and balance it out.”
Another follower said it appeared as if Lynch was going to “extreme lengths to appear skinny (er) and you already are skinny. This just feels irresponsible.”
Lynch responded, “More like going to extreme lengths to cover my exposed ass and not wear pants.”
However, one follower did come to Lynch’s defense, writing, “Skinny people not allowed to feel self conscious tho? It’s only a fashion thing we all wear things to make our body shape better it’s not a problem plus her main concern was covering up her pant line.”
In May 2019, Lynch shared a photo of herself in a swimsuit, and captioned it, “
#THIGHS #THIGHS #THIGHS THEY DON’T TOUCH BUT THEY DO JIGGLE.”
On Medley’s Instagram, the former “The Real Housewives of New York City” star also made a comment about weight in her caption.
The 55-year-old wrote, “This reminds me of how I dressed in my early days in NYC.
Young, thin, head to toe in black and ready to conquer the world!”
The former reality star has turned off the comments on her post.
Reps for Medley and Lynch did not immediately return Page Six’s requests for comment.
