Dorinda Medley from The Real Housewives of New York City says she was in a tremendous amount of pain this season and wonders if she should have filmed.
“I felt very wounded, weak, vulnerable,” she said during the final hour of the reunion. “Like I said at the winery, I felt like I was a toothpick in an ocean with no help.” Ramona Singer wondered why Medley didn’t say something. “I couldn’t Ramona,” Medley says.
“You’re not listening to me, I was in such a damaged place,” Medley says to Singer. “I actually needed someone literally to tell the truth, I probably should have taken off the season. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.”
Leah McSweeney says she was shocked when Medley reacted so strongly to the mere mention of Tinsley Mortimer’s name. Medley became extremely angry during the final episode when McSweeney mentioned Mortimer’s name.
McSweeney shares that Medley called her the next day and apologized for her explosive behavior. “I think that it wasn’t authentic,” Medley says. “She wasn’t there. Because I thought we did such a great job as a group after she left halfway through the season, I was surprised we were going back to that.”
“I wanted to mention Tinsley because she was an important person to me in terms of you guys,” McSweeney says. Medley adds that’s why she called McSweeney the next morning.
Medley admits she was wrong when it came to attacking Luann de Lesseps about her arrest for no reason. “Definitely with Luann,” Medley says gesturing to de Lesseps. “A hundred percent. I feel very bad about that. And I feel bad about that thing with you Leah. Because that was wrong. It ruined the finale but we defintely talked it out.”
“You know, I feel bad that Ramona and I couldn’t come to terms this season,” she continues. “We have a 20 year relationship and we really do care for each other. But I didn’t feel like she had my back at all.”
“I think the way for Ramona and I to go forward, if you want to continue our friendship is to just not rehash it,” Medley says. “And try to start building our friendship again. If it’s important to you. I just think it is.”
Medley adds she thinks the cast is in a reset. That’s when Singer says she doesn’t care what Medley does, she loves her. “I really would like to try,” Medley says. “I’m not sure if we are gonna do it, but it’s worth a try after 20 years.”
Singer says she wants to reconnect and they will do it. Then, much to host Andy Cohen’s horror, the twosome get up and touch elbows. “No, you can’t touch,” Cohen says due to COVID-19 precautions. But adds, “Okay that’s a great place to leave it.”
“And you know by the grace of God, hopefully 2021 will be a better year,” Medley says.
