Chrissy Teigen has shared her thoughts on Selling Sunset, making us seriously doubt everything we’ve ever believed about the popular Netflix series.
The real estate drama, which is based on the happenings of the glitzy Oppenheim Group, run by brothers Brett and Jason, which sell multi-million-dollar piles in LA, is our latest obsession and we’re just here holding out for season four.
Late to the party (she’s busy, she’s forgiven) Chrissy has binged the series this week and shared her review on Twitter on Tuesday night.
From the fact she doesn’t believe the characters are as ‘mean’ as social media has been making her believe – we assume she’s talking Davina Potratz territory there – to the fact she’s not even seen any of the agents on the Hollywood housing scene, there is a lot to unpack here.
*record rip* Oh yes, that’s right, Chrissy, who we’re really not at all surprised knows a thing or two about high-priced real estate, has claimed she, nor her own agents, don’t even know who the likes of Christine Quinn, Chrishell Stause and co are when it comes to actually selling homes.
Sharing a few tweets Chrissy began: ‘I just watched all of Selling Sunset after watching everyone talk about it for so long! I don’t even think anyone on it is as mean or insane as you guys said? Maybe I’m just so used to it because I live here? This is pretty normal lol some are actually really nice.’
Alright, we have to admit that it’s clear there is a lot of built-up drama going on – like, surely no one’s lives are that dramatic… right?
Chrissy wasn’t done though, as the model and author went on: ‘Maybe I also know everyone on tv plays up a character. They’re all doing that. You guys are … super mad at people who are in on the joke.’
But it was her third message that has sent us, and her followers, into a spin, as she wrote: ‘I will say, I look at LA real estate a lot and have never seen any of these people lol either have our agents, who I have obsessively asked.’
Wait, what, Christine Teigen, in the world do you mean? Are you suggesting our new favourite reality stars aren’t truly pounding that LA real estate pavement?
Well we never.
Of course the comments descended into a storm of detective work, with many airing their own suspicions, with others insisting they are agents, but Jason and Brett are the brokers – which we know (even though Davina also made it clear she is a broker and so help her God if she has to open her own brokerage to sell that gosh darn $75million (GBP56m) mansion she will).
Fans also asked Chrissy whether the Million Dollar Listing cast were ‘real’, as she chimed in: ‘I see them all the time in LA! And bought from John and Frederick in New York.’
There is nothing to suggest the cast is not the real deal, with their profiles on The Oppenheim Group listing them as ‘realtor associates’.
Chrishell also responded to Chrissy, by doing a little advertising at the same time, as she wrote: ‘Ahhhh my [queen] @chrissyteigen watched #SellingSunset.
‘Also, I have an AMAZING 2m listing hitting the market Monday in Studio City if you want to see it!’
Unfortunately for Chrishell – whose divorce from Justin Hartley was a major plot point in the third season – Chrissy isn’t looking to buy at the moment.
She replied: ‘Just bought last week lol growing fam! maybe the baby can stay at this one.’
